Why koran chose 'Mary' the mother of Jesus?

Its is mentioned in the koran that Mary was chosen above the women of all nations.

"Behold! the angels said: 'O Mary! God hath chosen thee and purified thee - chosen thee above the women of all nations.'" [Qur'an 3:42]

While Jews reject her and the miraculous birth of Jesus.
